Under the Weather

In a haze of fever and body aches, our home and our farm is now blanketed in winter snow. I have little gumption for words this week. After a wonderful holiday break our vacation was extended with a family covid adventure that left us tired and ready for the return to the routine of school and work. This week some new virus swept our house, first Lovett, then Lewis and just for good measure Racey and I have been in bed this weekend.

We make a few trips per day down to visit our friends the pigs, check on water, bedding and the usual belly scratches and boot nibbles. Then we stomp our way back to the house for some tea by the fire and some hacking coughs as our bodies adjust from the cold wind to a warm house.

Racey and I have been deep in the spreadsheets and analysis of 2023, although naps were much more popular than spreadsheets as we tended feverish kids all night long and began to feel under the weather ourselves. Here’s to improving health this week.

  1. We had one of your ham steaks for supper last night and it was the best we’ve had. Not salty at all and delicious. And thick. We’ll be ordering more of those.
