November brings such change on the farm. We had our first frost followed by morning temperatures of 22 F and snow squalls that left enough snow on the still green grass to slide around on. Often we enter November with sunny days without gloves and end the month with memories of family gatherings, meals with friends and frozen ground. We shall see what this November brings.
Thanksgiving is coming up and it is one of my favorite holidays. For me and our family it is a time we set aside to gather with family and friends to share food, stories and each other’s company. Food is the gravity that pulls us all out of our independent orbits and brings us around a table together to give thanks.
What we bring to the table can be fun conversation too. If you’re hosting or even traveling we would be honored to have our food and our farm represented at your table. Bring our story with you, tell your friends and families who grows your food, where it comes from and why it matters to you.
If you’re gathering with friends and family this holiday season we still have a few Whole Turkeys left and now have our popular No-Nitrate Smoked Ham Roast back in stock for this holiday season.
Making soups or gravy? Try our Chicken Bone Broth for wonderful flavor and simple ingredients.
We’ve got lots of new items to share with you over the next few weeks so stay tuned.

Piglets give thanks too!
Our piglets are busy snacking on beach nuts and other tree nuts in our woods this week, now that they are properly trained to electric fence we can easily give them a large area in the woods to explore. Thanks to Tully and Racey who got the fence and water all figured out. We still give them a bale of hay every week to make their nests in and burrow down to stay warm.
On that cold morning with snow you could not see nor ear nor snout of them; they were all buried in the hay bedding. The piglets will make their way over the next few weeks through the woods back to our “Solar Barn” where they will have plenty of dry bedding and shelter from the winter weather. In the meantime they are enjoying all the treats the forest floor has to offer.
