Good morning, and thank you for taking the time to read my words and follow our journey as a farm, business and family.
April is our first annual Hog Harvest Sale ever, and my focus so far has been sharing so many fun tidbits about how we raise our pigs and some of the thought and intention behind those “hows.” I’ve shared the arrival of new piglets on the farm and how we keep them healthy and warm during the fluctuating temps of spring. Last week I also shared a summary about How We Raise Pigs on our farm and the ways our pork is produced so differently than most of the pork you find in the supermarkets.
Today, I want to share all about our 2024 Hog Harvest Sale, which ends in 2 more days, on April 30th.
There are 3 things I personally love about this year’s special offer:
#1 Our 1/4 Pork Box features an awesome mix of everything!

Ready to stock your freezer with a tasty assortment of our pork products, this box is perfect for those of us who want to narrow down the choices and save on some high quality pork. We do the choosing for you in this box, and we think you’ll like what you find.
We’ve got some of our amazing Bone-in and BoneLESS pork chops, perfect for the grill or the broiler if it’s still windy, cloudy and not quite grilling weather (like it has been up here).
You’ll find a delicious Pork Shoulder Roast for oven roasting, slow cooking or instapot.
Of course there’s our amazing No-Nitrate Bacon and other smoked favorites. All of our smoked products contain No Nitrates whatsoever, which I’ve italicized because so many “no-nitrate” items actually contain nitrates in the form of Celery Powder or other natural ingredients. For a deep dive on this check out my blog post on nitrates. Our Bacon, smoked hams, ham steaks and sliced ham are all totally nitrate free: we use a simple sugar and salt rub, and then they are smoked with hickory wood. Yum.
And then there’s sausage. I love sausage. Pork, spices and a dash of salt can bring so many flavors to life. This box includes Maple Breakfast to bring breakfast to the next level, Sweet Italian which we use in so many dishes, loose mild breakfast sausage for breakfast without the sweet maple, and ground pork – the most versatile of them all.
Only the ½ pork box beats this in value, so check out this 27-pound box and save over $65 only until April 30th.
#2 Exclusive 20-packs of Ground Pork
Racey and I love to cook, and we run a business together, have our own consulting projects, are parents of two amazing kids, and sometimes meal planning doesn’t make it to the top of the list.
That is why we almost always have a package of ground pork thawing in the fridge. Ground pork is like so many excellent staples (pasta, bread, garden vegetables…), it is excellent on it’s own, and makes any dish better.
We mix ground pork with a dash of salt, cumin, fresh garlic and oregano and we’re having burritos; we mix with salt and pepper and it could be meat balls; or with fish sauce, ginger and brown sugar and we’re having caramelized pork, what a treat! Whatever direction you choose to take you can’t go wrong with our 20 pk of Ground Pork.
#3 Pork Shoulder 4-Packs
We are excited to offer great savings on so many a la carte items like Sliced Ham, sausages, pork chops, not to mention amazing savings on organs and ham hocks.
When it comes down to it, I think the 4-pack savings on our fresh pork shoulder roast is my favorite. With up to $2.19/lb in savings (save over $20 total) on one of my favorite cuts, this one takes the spot as my personal favorite.
For those of us who live in the North East, especially the Adirondacks, we saw 25°F two mornings this week. It feels like spring some days, but there are plenty of week nights where a pork roast, or pulled pork is absolutely on the menu.
Well, that’s what I love about our first Hog Harvest Event. If you have never tried our pork, or maybe are looking to place your first order with us, we would love to earn your business and have you taste the difference. Farm Updates
It’s hard to believe that we brought our first batch of chickens to the field this week. And in keeping with past weather patterns, sure enough we had two nights where temperatures hit a low of 25! The new MRCs (Moble Range Coops) we built last year have been very helpful, they have roll down sides, and top vents to keep things warm but with good ventilation.
We will have a new batch of chickens in the field every week for 5 more weeks until we are at full capacity. Time flies.
