I love writing and I love sharing and connecting with people. So when Racey and I went down to do pig chores on Friday morning, I thought to myself: I’m carrying a pretty amazing video camera in my pocket, I wonder if I could make a short video to share with our community.
So I grabbed my nifty little flexible phone tripod and hit record on my phone as we walked out to do chores. It took me a few minutes to get used to holding a phone, making sure I was holding it so the video could see, and finding the connection and comfort with who might watch the video, rather than the inanimate object that I was holding. Soon Racey was giving a belly rub to one of our favorite pigs and showing off her love for pigs and we were off and running.
Although my brother Dakin and I both started off our video careers with camcorders and VHS home videos, Dakin is now a professional filmmaker and I haven’t made a video since…well, VHS was normal. I had lots of fun learning to edit a simple video and I’m proud to share this new way to bring everyone closer to our farm.
Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Very interesting, Nathan!
