New Offerings

Gray skies, snow flurries, frozen morning mud puddles and afternoon muddy boots mark the coming solstice. Little snow has persisted here on the farm, and even the snowman and snow-tractor that Lovett and Layton built have bowed their heads and returned to the ground. I have a few quick announcements to make this week as we prepare for the upcoming holidays and a new year!

New Offerings – Learning

Learning and teaching are seamlessly interwoven into the fabric of my life. A fabric whose colors span the challenge of learning the ecology of a farm, understanding the nature of animal husbandry and food and health, navigating the personal exploration that is running our business and the daily and profound lessons of parenting and partnership. Through this work of weaving learning and teaching together I will be offering more opportunities to learn.

In the spring of 2021 my chronic back pain went from frustrating to debilitating when I developed a herniated disc in my lower back. I had incredible sciatic pain in my right leg and I could not walk for more than 3 months. As you might imagine springtime is a busy time of year for me to be completely immobilized. The blessing in disguise was just that, I was given the opportunity to be still and step back from the act of doing. With the help of a friend and mentor, I found healing through what my body had to teach me. By mid-summer I was walking again and I have been pain free ever since.

Throughout my time in bed, I found passion and joy in sharing what I was learning with friends, family and visitors who came to support me. As I began to heal and walk I knew I wanted to learn more about how to share my experience with others. I spent the next year training and learning to be a sensation-based mindset coach.

In 2024, I will start sharing what I have learned and am excited to announce my first offerings!

Come learn with me: the foundational tools for healing your body and balancing your nervous system.

What:  Core Centering Practice for Stress

Where: Pinnacle Yoga & Retreat Center

In 2024, we will be offering our food and opportunities to learn and grow in person, on farm and remotely.  I look forward to sharing more.

Pigs always need a good scratch

Through diligent and patient persistence Lovett and Lewis got the first pig (“Scratchums”) to stay still for a belly rub. Since then about half the group has come around to the treat, and now bedding in their barn can be a challenge with a herd of pigs at your feet vying for a scratch and nibbling the snaps on your overalls.

Racey is always game for a good scratch.
