Looking Back and Looking Ahead

I was looking back at the blog posts from this time last year, and I’m reminded of how difficult annual patterns are to see. 365 days is a long time for short term memory. Yet the pattern of May business and stress is glaringly evident. In fact, this same week last year Racey wrote about the fateful week when my vertebral disc at L5-S1 herniated and started pushing on my S1 (sciatic) nerve root. The sensations were such that I could not walk for three months. I’ve come so far since that week, and yet sometimes the hustle feels the same.

This weekend I’m headed up into the Adirondack Mountains to do some hiking and relaxing with just Racey, a rare moment for the two of us to enjoy silence together and take a few deep breaths. Lewis and Lovett will enjoy a weekend with Grandma just down the road.

In diving back into writings of the past I am reminded of how far I’ve come and the impact of the healing I found. For any who are interested here are some of my favorite posts from this time last year. Happy Spring.
