Happy 4th of July

Whatever reason you have to celebrate this weekend…

We hope you enjoy some summer weather, some good food and family and friends. I saw some early holiday colors this week with a stunning rainbow and some much needed rain. We’re still many inches of rain behind where we’d like to be but every little bit helps.

Thank you to all the folks. We have some exciting news to share below, but first my cooking revelation of the week:

I discovered grilled chicken …

This sounds silly I know, but we’re used to only have two wings to munch on from a whole chicken. For our family the oven roasted whole chicken has been a staple for a long time. Partly for it’s simplicity, and partly because we did not part chickens for a long time, this is the only way we’ve eaten chicken.

This week we tried grilled chicken wings and I was not disappointed. Crispy, juicy, they brought new meaning to the phrase finger licking good. Here’s how we did it:

  • Racey is the recipe master, so she put together the following rub:
  • Then mix the rub with about 4 lbs of wings (4 pkgs or splurge and get a whole case!)
  • I then melted ___ of butter, while butter melts, toss in ____ of lemon juice and add the butter when melted.
  • Set your grill to high heat, grill each side of the wings for about 4-5 minutes, depending on your desired level of “grill char”
  • Then set the wings on an upper grill rack or lower heat to med-low and cook until juices run clear (about 5-8 more minutes)

News:

  • Our summer sale is still going on! If you have not ordered with us recently or you have a friend who might be interested, use our one time coupon code: SUMMER10 to get 10% off your first purchase. Please pass this on to any friends or family you think would be interested!
  • We have all of your favorite chicken cuts back in stock so order now for delivery and pickup next week!
  • We are updating our Curbside Pickup plan to try to make it more convenient for folks to pick up their order. See below for more details:

For Curbside Pickup at the Farm:

In weeks past we have had a 2 hour window for folks to come pickup their order on Wednesdays. In an effort to make shopping with us even easier we are going to try something new!

Starting this week, we will package your order in our fancy insulated boxes, put a big label with your name on it and how many boxes are in the order, and set them out on these shelves pictured above. Then you can come any time after noon to pickup your order. We’ve tested these boxes, meat stays frozen for up to 24 hours with no dry ice!

Thank you again everyone who has placed an order, and please help us spread the word and pass this on to anyone who might be interested.
